Draft System

Published on December 10, 2025

The Draft System provides a structured way for leagues to place players onto teams by allowing team captains to select from the pool of available Free Agents. Team captains are invited using the usual registration methods, described in the Team Registration Guide .

All players sign up as Free Agents, forming the pool of eligible draft selections. When the draft begins, captains take turns choosing from this list live, round by round. Each pick immediately removes that player from the available pool.

Once all rounds are complete, a league admin finalizes the draft. At that moment, every selected player is automatically placed onto the team that drafted them, and the league rosters update instantly.

Before your league can run a draft, you’ll need to create and configure a draft session. Start by visiting the Drafts Page and selecting Create a New Draft. You can create the draft at any time, even before all teams have fully registered for the season.

Once teams begin registering, click the Set Pick Order button. You can choose to establish your own draft order by assigning each team a Seed, or you can let the system randomize the order for you.

After pick order is set, you also have the option to assign draft numbers to players. These numbers can be distributed for player identification during any pre-draft tryouts or showcase events.

With the draft created, teams registered, and pick order finalized, you are now ready to start your live draft.

When you're ready for captains to begin making selections, it’s time to start the live draft. Begin by distributing the draft link or QR code to your team captains so everyone can log in and join the session.

Once all captains are present and prepared, click Start Draft. The team with the first pick will now be able to select any available player from the Free Agents pool.

The draft follows a snake order: once the team with the final pick of the round selects a player, that same team immediately receives the first pick of the next round as the order reverses. Everyone on the draft page can see which team is currently picking, as well as who is “on deck” for the next selection.

If a captain is unavailable or unable to make their selection, a league admin can step in to keep the draft moving. Admins may either select a player on that team's behalf or use the Randomize Pick option.

The draft can be paused at any time, preventing additional picks until resumed. If a mistake is made, admins also have the ability to undo the most recent pick before the draft continues. If necessary, the entire draft can also be canceled, which will erase all selections made so far and return all players to the Free Agents pool.

The Draft Pick Timer helps keep the draft moving by limiting how long each team has to make a selection. Admins set the time per pick before the draft begins.

During the live draft, a countdown timer is visible to all participants. The timer flashes at 30 seconds and again at 10 seconds remaining to warn the current captain.

When time runs out, the system responds based on the admin-selected timeout behavior:

  • Soft Lock — The captain may still make the pick after time expires.
  • Hard Lock — The captain is locked out and an admin must make the pick.
  • Auto Pick — The system automatically selects a player.

The timer pauses automatically if the draft is paused and resumes with the correct time remaining.

After all rounds of the draft have been completed, take a moment to review the full list of drafted players to ensure everything looks correct. This is your opportunity to verify that every selection was recorded properly and that each team’s roster reflects the choices made during the live draft.

When you’re satisfied, click Finalize Draft. You’ll be asked to confirm this action, and once approved, all drafted players will be moved automatically to their respective teams. Any players who were not selected will remain in the Free Agents pool.

For ongoing roster adjustments throughout the season, we recommend using the Waiver Wire system. It provides a fair and structured way for captains to make additional player pickups after the draft. You can learn more in the Waiver Wire Guide .

With the draft finalized and teams set, you’re now ready to start your season.
